What can you expect to happen when you pray?

What can you expect to happen when you pray?

It is crucial when we pray to know that something is going to happen.

Prayer is not just an exercise in meditation.

When we pray, we are addressing the God of heaven.

Listen to God’s promise after Solomon dedicated the temple.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT) Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

We should have heartfelt expectation.

The Psalmist said: Psalm 17:6 (NLT) I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.

We should approach God with expectation.

I know God will answer my prayer.

When you read the first part of Psalms 17 you notice that David had dealt with everything that could hinder his prayer.

His prayers were not coming from deceitful lips.

His heart had been probed and examined by God.

He had resolved to not sin with his mouth.

He had examined his deeds.

He had tested his steps.

David was preparing a way for God to answer his prayer.

Then David said: “I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.”

Listen to what happened to Daniel.

Daniel 9:20-23 (NIV) While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the Lord my God for his holy hill— while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the message and understand the vision”

Nothing obvious was showing up. Everything seemed to be the same. However, God was answering. The message and the vision were God’s response to Daniel’s prayer.

What can you expect to happen when you pray?

Jesus told us to pray with expectation.

Mark 11:24 (NIV) Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

This is not just confidence in your prayer, it confidence in the God who answers those prayers. God has the answer that you are needing.

Mark 9:23 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

When we pray like this we should expect God to step into our situation with supernatural power.

Do you understand the power that is at God’s disposal?

His power is supernaturally greater than our abilities.

His power is unlimited.

His resources are inconceivable.

When God steps into our situations things will change.

When God answers prayer, miracles will happen.

Satan will be defeated.

Heaven will be opened.

Angels will be dispatched.

The Holy Spirit will descend in power.

When we stand as God’s people in prayer and faith, we are in the place God can use us.

You are on the threshold of spiritual breakthrough.

The enemy of your soul will franticly do all he can to keep this from happening.

You are a threat to his invasion.

You are working where the gates of hell are.

Watch closely for his intrusion into your life through circumstances, interaction with others, and your own thoughts and emotions.

Give him no ground whatsoever.

Resist him at every turn, and he will flee.

We must do everything we can to stand firm in the faith.

Bold prayer and strong faith requires us to stand strong.

You need to know that God will not abandon you.

You must not abandon your faith.

Your prayer and faith must not waver or wobble.

Even if you don’t see God working, He has heard your prayer.

God is faithful.

Deuteronomy 7:9 (NIV) Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.

1 Corinthians 1:9 (NIV) God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

Psalm 89:8 (NIV) O Lord God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O Lord, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

Psalm 89:9 (NIV) You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.

Psalm 89:11 (NIV) The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.

Psalm 89:13 (NIV) Your arm is endued with power; your hand is strong, your right hand exalted.

So, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might…

What can you expect to happen when you pray?

When you pray expect God to hear you.

When you pray expect an answer from Heaven.

When you pray all things are possible if you believe.

When you pray expect miracles.

When you pray expect battles.

More than that you can expect victories.
